The Count Down

Hello Family and Friends,
The count down for our trip is on! Only 5 more weeks until we leave! We are so excited to get to go and share the love of Christ with the people of Africa. We are immensely blessed to be able to go. Thank you all for your support and love! It means the world to Chad and I and has made us who we are today. Again, we are so excited!!!
I wanted to share more details of our trip. We plan to leave Monday, May 9th. We are driving to Dallas. Our flight leaves Tuesday, May 10 around 4 p.m. We will fly from Dallas to London and then London into Africa. We will be returning to the States June 16th around 3. We have gotten our yellow fever shots and are getting our malaria medication. I have been collecting school supplies to take to the school I will be working with in Africa. We have gotten many books, scissors, crayons, and paper. The children are going to love it! Here is information about the school I will be working with. The School is in Mihongohi Chenda (nine poles) about ten miles outside of Malindi in a village area. The school is called Mahendzo School (Mahendzo means Love). The goal of Mahendzo school is to provide a quality education for the poorest of the poor in their area. It is a private school of about 200 pre-k to 8th grade students. It is taught in english (unique to Kenya) and supported by a church in the village. Teachers work for minimal salaries (maybe $50 month). They try hard to support a feeding program where students get two meals a day (for some the only meals they receive.) There is no electricity, there is a water tap near the school. They are trying to build a pit latrine as we speak. I cannot wait to get to work with the school and the children. I am planning activities which include balloons, bean bags, and ribbon dancing. I cannot wait to see how God works! Chad is also getting excited to work in the surgical camp. A lot of the preparation for the surgical camp will take place once we are in Africa.
We are also going with Courtney and Landon Shuman. As a team we have been meeting weekly to pray and to do team building. We have taken personality test, spiritual analysis test, and discussed our goals for this trip. God has been building our team for the obstacles we will face on the mission trip.
We are so thankful for you support and love! Please pray for our safety on this trip and that God's love may shine through us to the people of Africa. Feel free to contact us if you any questions or want more details about our trip. We love you all!
Blessings,
Chad and Whitney Pacanowski
